Tomorrow night, I’m very happy to attend the first ever ITA Awards ceremony organised by Inclusive Boards as I’ve been nominated for the ‘Tech Evangelist of the year’ award. It’s not exactly a title I’m completely comfortable with as I’m not a corporate evangelist, selling a product. I have however dedicated much of my career in championing the internet of things in the UK through my work as the first UK distributor of the Arduino, then the organiser of the London Internet of Things meetup, I also worked as an in-house mentor for the 2017 cohort of Startupbootcamp IoT incubator and a dissemination partner for the Eyehub project which was funded by Innovate UK. I also worked over the years as a technical assessor for European and UK funds, helping them allocate funds to startups across many areas of emerging technologies. I definitely have had a portfolio career (on top of creating my own product and writing books) that’s always involved a larger community and building links between London and the rest of the world and I’m very proud to have been selected as a finalist. The evening tomorrow should be great fun and an opportunity to meet peers and friends alike (on top of wearing a nice dress which never happens).
