The closing of CCA is a sign, we should gird our loins / a great lecture on media literacy by danah boyd / Maya Angelou’s only album was described as exotica which was a thing back then / the Garden Museum’s exhibition of Rory McEwen paintings was wonderful / an AA talk about the role of discotheques during times of conflict / the weird and wonderful world of Ivy was a brilliant use of a few hours / an atmospheric 1970s interview with Palestinian author Ghassan Khanafani / I blame seasonal affective disorder for the plethora of articles about how people don’t want to engage in community work / an upcoming show about Marcel Breuer’s work in Bristol / feels silly to go to Derry to see a show about Barbara Steveni who used to live near me but I might just / my friend Anne wrote a beautiful essay about loss and constipation / an evening of recycled performances in East London / anyone worrying about relational service design should try to fix prisons as a paper exercise.
Added to my commonplace book:
‘It forces itself to answer when it really shouldn’t’. – Deepmind’s CEO talking about hallucinations. (Sounds like people I’ve met to be fair so maybe we’ve already reached AGI).
In job seeking news, I got a screening call for an exciting role but i won’t count my chickens until they hatch. My last interview was last June after all. I also had a chat with someone about a possible high octane bit of freelance work. As I’m 10 weeks away from the end of my time at the Energy Systems Catapult, I will ramp up the networking and catchup drinks with people.
In social news, i went to see Ovo at Royal Albert Hall which was great and looking to see some Pina soon. I’m looking at going to Malta to see the Victor Pasmore gallery so starting some planning. The next London internet of things meetup is in a couple of weeks and I’m excited about having a host for the first time since July.
