Sunday Scraps #101

Went to an open studio night and had the pleasure of meeting the artist Barby Asante / am going to try to go see Claire Fontaine‘s show and the AA Gallery show about Ursula K Le Guin’s maps  / the concept of a memory palace is so interesting / calling floppy disks old makes me feel ancient / I went to Venice a week ago and loved the Diagrams show by OMA at Fondazione Prada, the Polish pavillion and the Doxiadis Informational Modernism exhibit in the Arsenale (the first time I see ekistics mentioned) / I find it very hard to believe the artist-run FOOD restaurant was the first one in SoHo / the eco-compute conference looks interesting / it’ll soon be 40 years since James Baldwin gave this talk but it might as well be today / I popped into the British Library yesterday to look at the catalogue for a 2013 exhibition about xerography and learnt that the photocopier was an IP lawyer’s side project and that a 21 year old woman was the first to photocopy her derrière at work / I’ve been playing around with video a little and looking at cinemagraphs next.

In social news, I’m going to an alumni evening at the Québec office in London, having dinner with Ian who is in town, attending my friend Rosie’s book launch and going to see the Frieze with some former colleagues.

In job seeking news, I’m starting my 4th week of a 6 month contract supporting the Energy Systems Catapult with business development for their Living Lab (which the fierce Claire is leading). I’m keeping an eye on full time leadership roles from March 2026 so keep me in mind if you see anything.
