The anxiety of living makes us want to judge, be sure, have a stance, definitively decide. Having a fixed, rigid system of belief can be a great relief.
– A Swim in a Pond in the Rain
If you want a quiet week, don’t read the history of Mandatory Palestine / I loved this short 1970s documentary on Itzhak Perlman / Nokia 3310 inspired art / I really like it when exhibitions give you a reading list / a museum of plastic waste is a genius idea / Phin is hosting an event on the future of Biennales / the Vittles summer special podcast was excellent / it’s a real shame when social housing schemes don’t stay under public ownership for very long / I didn’t know my favourite gif was an advert for cheese / excellent jewelled rotting fruit / I experienced the Gen Z stare twice this week / I should probably read Bowling Alone at some stage.
In social news, I wore a dress for my friend 50th birthday and that was nice. Seeing friends in the evenings and going to visit Charleston House in Lewes this weekend.
On job seeking front, a friend has shared an interesting advert for a Chair role which I’ll apply for and still mulling over a couple of applications with the expectation any recruitment process will take 6 months anyway.
