I committed a horrible faux pas today. I apologised to those concerned of course but in those moments I remind myself of this 17th century nun’s prayer / I’m annoyed I missed this exhibition about shade / thinking about popping into Bruxelles to see the Fondation Folon on a daytrip / beautiful AI ‘painted’ typography / I didn’t know about the fake Parisian building facades / a super well researched podcast about food allergies / I need to make sure I buy something from Alessandro Merlin in Venice later this year / I’m not sure climate change is going to be solved by showing people the right kinds of diagrams but it can’t hurt I suppose / a project by the lovely Eric about Ed Ruscha’s photos of L.A. / the Greenwich & Docklands International Festival of dance looks great / on the problem with facts that sound right but aren’t / i wonder what Russell makes of this 3 slide presentation on deregulating the US government.
In social news, it’s getting to that quiet bit in the London calendar I’ve learnt to relish as I avoid travelling on school holidays. So I’m catching up with my mentor from the co-mentoring programme at Association of Chairs and going to see Phin’s gallery private view. I’ve also rented a piano after a 30 year break and starting with the basics of La Méthode Rose. I learnt in French so finding it to weird to switch to English for this.
In job seeking news, I’m busy with contract work until March 2026. I should be able to share more soon but I’m in the middle of one contract and don’t start the next one until late September. I’m still keeping my eyes peeled for a full time leadership role as I was able to hold my nerve these past few months because I had a bit of a cushion. I won’t be earning quite enough to build one up again, so I’ll have to line something up for April next year over the autumn. With that in mind, the Innovation Director of National Grid looks interesting. And thank you to those who read these weekly links and send me the JDs you find. I appreciate you.
