1. What did you do in 2021 that you\u2019d never done before?<\/span><\/p>\n

Prioritised my finances over how interesting or aligned my work was.<\/p>\n

2. Did you keep your New Years\u2019 resolutions, and will you make more for next year?<\/span>
\n<\/span>We were in the middle of a lockdown so I’m pretty sure I made none.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?<\/span>
\n<\/span>I don’t think so but I could be wrong. It’s become an uphill battle to track people’s children without being on Instagram or meeting them in real life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Did anyone close to you die?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Yes.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. What countries did you visit?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Scotland for work. <\/span><\/p>\n

6. What would you like to have in 2022 that you lacked in 2021?<\/span>
\n<\/span>A trip to see my family (who I’ve not seen since 2019)<\/span><\/p>\n

7. What date from 2021 will remain etched upon your memory?<\/span>
\n<\/span>April 23rd, when M. died. <\/span><\/p>\n

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Running the first residency of the Low Carbon Design Institute<\/a><\/p>\n

9. What was your biggest failure?<\/span>
\n<\/span>I’m not even going to entertain the notion of failure in a pandemic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Sprained my calf at tennis. The most white middle class injury ever.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

11. What was the best thing you bought?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Big earrings. <\/span><\/p>\n

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Women fighting for their right to abortion around the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Every institutional anti vaxxer propagand machine, ie. Facebook\/Meta.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

14. Where did most of your money go?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Visits to\u00a040 Maltby Street<\/span><\/a> who ran a stellar ‘heat at home’ menu and books of course.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Cycling.<\/span><\/p>\n

16. What song\/album will always remind you of 2021?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Kings of Convenience<\/a>‘s new album\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:<\/span>
\n<\/span>In better physical shape. (same answer as 2018)<\/span><\/p>\n

18. What do you wish you\u2019d done more of?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Taking holidays. I took less than a week off this year and it showed.<\/span><\/p>\n

19. What do you wish you\u2019d done less of?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Worrying. It’s really impacted my sleep over the last 6 months. Or it’s the peri-menopause that’s kicked in.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

20. How will you be spending Christmas?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Spent Christmas Eve cooking a duck with a friend and Christmas Day in another friend’s garden.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

21. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?<\/span>
\n<\/span>My clients. <\/span><\/p>\n

22. Did you fall in love in 2021?<\/span>
\n<\/span>The jury is still out on that one.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

23. What was your favourite TV programme?<\/span>
\n<\/span>I don\u2019t watch TV series. (same answer for the last 10 years)<\/span><\/p>\n

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn\u2019t hate this time last year?<\/span>
\n<\/span>No.<\/span><\/p>\n

26. What was the best book(s) you read?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Do Nothing<\/a> was fantastic. I’m also not tracking what I read which is a real mistake. Must do something about that.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Lots of old jazz which I’ve really enjoyed. Max Roach has been a highlight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

28. What did you want and get?<\/span>
\n<\/span>To run the LocDI residency even in a pandemic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

29. What did you want and not get?<\/span>
\n<\/span>A chance to see family and friends in Europe. I miss them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

30. What were your favourite films of this year?<\/span>
\n<\/span>I keep investing in old Holywood and The Last Picture Show<\/a> (1971) was pretty fantastic as well as the original Ingmar Bergman Scenes from a Marriage<\/a> (1973).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?<\/span>
\n<\/span>A friend and I went to see Life Between Islands<\/a> at Tate Britain, took the clippers to Tower Bridge and had a takeaway sandwich from 40 Maltby Street<\/a> on a park bench while watching people play tennis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?<\/span>
\n<\/span>More days off.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2021?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Menopause chic, am fully embracing longer hair, big earrings and cream coloured clothes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

34. What kept you sane?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Conversations with J.<\/span><\/p>\n

35. Which celebrity\/public figure did you fancy the most?<\/span>
\n<\/span>No time for that. (same answer for the last 10 years)<\/span><\/p>\n

36. What political issue stirred you the most?<\/span>
\n<\/span>The UK government’s handling of everything all the time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

37. Who did you miss?<\/span>
\n<\/span>M. who died.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

38. Who was the best new person you met?<\/span>
\n<\/span>A, L, P.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2021.<\/span>
\n<\/span>Everything changes and nothing changes. (same answer as 2018)<\/span><\/p>\n
