It&#8217;ll do well enough with early adopters whenever they launch it and regardless of battery life but more importantly it&#8217;ll test one important assumption: is the ability to pay with a watch going to get people to wear them again? Fitness and\u00a0sharing your presence <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/business\/currency\/trouble-smartwatches\">have failed to get the market excited<\/a> because they are short-term interactions. People go on diets for weeks or exercise for a few\u00a0months. Paying for things is an everyday recurring action. Maybe Watch will be the\u00a0payment card\u00a0killer? If they come to the UK,\u00a0paying for the Underground with a watch would beat\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tfl.gov.uk\/fares-and-payments\/oyster\/using-oyster\/card-clash\">card clash<\/a>\u00a0but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tfl.gov.uk\/cdn\/static\/cms\/images\/visitor-oyster-card-ticket-.jpg\">readers are all on the left<\/a>, so not an obvious gesture.
