Feel the Gap (may 2003)
This visual proposal was made with the help of Valerie Sangin for the Memefest festival competition 2003. The proposal was accompanied by a short description.
"My concept had already been thought through when something at work (I work in a mall in the downtown area of Montreal) made me think I was definitely doing the right thing. The mall has a lot of beggers coming in and wandering around, especially in the winter and summer times because of the extreme conditions outside.
The other day, my boss came in looking really pleased with herself. The administrative committee of the mall had voted a unilateral ban on beggers which meant that the security guards would no longer tolerate them and will use physical force to actually kick them out. A shopper overheard and agreed vivdly complaining there was never any place for people to sit.
When will people stop ignoring what's in front of them and realise what a mess we're in. The more global we get, the less humane we get towards others and the more I feel the gap. The social, psychological, financial, emotional gap."
